It’s time for a self-evaluation. If you or I are ever going to get out of this rut, we need to start working at it. I was recently introduced to a site called Kickstarter. Here, you can get funding for the projects you have in mind. You have to of course be creative, offer incentives and really sell yourself. But, hey; it’s a good idea. Looking through this site made me realize I haven’t really done much to try to turn my situation around. I mean, it’s not a bad situation. I have a family that loves me and a roof over my head. But, it would be nice to kind of excel past just making it, don’t you think? Here are some things I thought of on my way to “Imgonnachangeshitaroundhereville”

2011 is gone…

Ever heard that expression, stupidity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results? It’s true, if I keep up the way I’m going I probably will not make it very far in life. It seems that smart and happy people actually learn from their mistakes… Hmm? Sounds interesting; we should try that.

2012 is a new year…

I look back over the last couple years of being broke and I can’t tell where I went wrong. I know I have saved nothing in that time-frame. That could be it… Or the fact that I have overspent. Maybe… You know what, that is exactly why… Shit. But “2012 is a new year”. The only thing stopping me now is myself. I am the only one holding me back. I can do anything, but, it has to start with me. But, it’s not just me… it’s you too. I have made the decision to make this year one where I step out of my comfort zones and try some new things. Put my self out there a little bit.

You owe it to yourself…

Who else are you doing it for? Or better yet, why else would you be doing it? What’s that, you say you’re doing it to help others? Well, that’s great. But, you’re still getting some monetary kickback. Whether it’s just enough money to get you through the building process or enough money to keep you fed while you work on it. You are getting something. No profit, huh? Well, you’re getting self-gratification right? I mean, if you are able to help a bunch of people; that would make you happy right? Do it for you, not for anything else. When you do that, you make it ten times more important to finish.

What can you lose, besides everything of course…

No, you’re going to be alright. You are a human; better yet you are an adult human. You know your limitations and what will lead you to the poor house. If you don’t know when to stop or how to budget; just sit outside any high school economics or math class and you’ll figure it out. You know the classes we all had to take when we were in high school? Know your limits; but don’t be afraid to push them.

Your better than that…

Get off your ass. No seriously; get up. The only thing making this thing not happen is you. Do me a favor; when you go home tonight log in exactly what you do before bed. Do this for a week. If your log is filled with: eat, TV, sleep, phone; guess what? You’re wasting your time. You are absolutely wasting precious creative moments.

Talk it out…

When you’re in a rut; talk to friends or family about it. See what they think. If they are your good friend’s, then you probably value some of their opinion’s right? That’s what they are there for. To hear us bitch and complain about how we hate our life and how were not getting anywhere. Trust me; a little venting goes a long way. Once you’re done, get back on track and keep going!

At the end of the day, no one cares…

When all is said and done…Who gives a shit? I am constantly coming up with new ideas. Things that I think can help us out in our everyday tasks. New inventions that seem impossible but would be so awesome. The thing is that, even if I fail, I can always start over. And you know what, you’re not that important. People don’t go home and say, “man that guy, I think I’ll be a stalker and keep up with his failed ideas and remind him he’s a loser every 5 seconds”. It doesn’t work like that. You either fail or succeed. When you fail, you move on. Everyone forgets eventually. If they don’t, oh well; sounds like a personal problem for them not you…
